About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide complete nursing care and moderate sedation for Interventional Radiology patients
Provide nursing services for Radiology patients across all radiology modalities
Respond to Interventional Radiology In-Basket messages, addressing pre-procedure, scheduling, and follow-up needs
Provide nursing care in the Cath Lab prep/recovery area as needed
Assist radiology staff and coordinate with scheduling, pre-procedure testing, staff, patients, and physicians
Serve as primary Interventional Radiology Nurse and coordinate with IR Nurse Navigation, Radiology Technologists, Cath Prep and Recovery charge RN, and service-line coordinators
Cross-train for patient care and procedural coverage in Cath Prep and Recovery
Assist with Cath/IR interventional lab procedures and other cardiac service areas as needed
Lead and direct staff from other modalities assisting with radiology procedures
Ensure proper workup and follow-up for Interventional Radiology patients
Maintain knowledge of current IR procedures and best practices
Support service-line satisfaction, efficiency, workflow, and patient flow
Maintain supply inventory and provide input on equipment purchases and supply/equipment budgets
Communicate patient and supply issues to leadership, staff, and providers
Provide education and orientation to new and existing staff
Perform daily equipment, temperature, humidity, anesthesia cart, point-of-care quality assurance, and product expiration checks
Perform monthly crash cart and emergency equipment checks
Provide input on staff performance appraisals
Ensure procedure supplies are available and provide input on procedure schedule feasibility
Complete nursing care throughout the Interventional Radiology process from initial order through post-procedure follow-up

Requirements

What you’ll need

Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
College Diploma: Nursing
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
Nursing work experience
Ability to provide moderate sedation
Ability to work day schedule of 7a-4:30p across four 9-hour shifts
Every sixth weekend on-call requirement, 8am-5:30pm
Holiday requirement every other holiday
