About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills to patient care through the nursing process
  • Assess patients and develop individualized plans of care collaboratively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Implement interventions and evaluate and document patient progress
  • Modify care plans based on patient condition
  • Complete patient charts and event reports
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform bedside laboratory testing with quality control
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care from admission through discharge
  • Prioritize assignments, delegate tasks, provide shift reports, and advocate for patients
  • Educate patients and families using age-, cultural-, gender-, and developmental-appropriate strategies
  • Ensure patient safety and follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies
  • Participate in data collection, audits, performance improvement initiatives, unit councils, and process improvements
  • Promote patient and family satisfaction and support professional development of team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • College Diploma: Nursing
  • Weekend requirements: every third weekend
  • Holiday requirements: yes
  • On-call requirements: 2–4 hour shifts per 6-week pay period
  • Night shift schedule: 3, 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
