About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care throughout prep, intra-procedure, and recovery phases for routine GI colonoscopy and upper endoscopy procedures
- Rotate through patient-care phases and deliver moderate sedation under physician direction
- Collaborate with departments and unit staff while caring for inpatient and outpatient populations
- Delegate care to unlicensed personnel as appropriate
- Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and continuously modify plans of care
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation for healthcare-team use
- Prepare patients by completing assessments, reviewing health histories, starting IVs, and providing education
- Monitor and sedate patients during procedures
- Care for patients in phase 1 and phase 2 recovery
- Assist the CRNA during cases requiring anesthesia involvement
- Report or correct safety hazards and incidents
- Communicate with colleagues, provide constructive feedback, and identify learning needs
- Define, direct, supervise, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
- Provides moderate sedation under direction of physician
- Ability to care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures, including preparation, intra-procedure care, and recovery
- Ability to perform patient assessments and develop and implement plans of care
- Ability to start IVs and provide patient education
- Ability to monitor and sedate patients during procedures
- Ability to care for patients in phase 1 and phase 2 recovery
- Ability to assist the CRNA during cases requiring anesthesia involvement
- Ability to fulfill departmental competencies
- Ability to delegate appropriately to unlicensed personnel
- Ability to work rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments
- Work authorization verification through Form I-9/E-Verify
