About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate planning, development, and implementation of education for the unit, department, or site
- Provide bedside education to clinical staff and ensure competency through skill validation and monitoring
- Serve as an education resource for clinical practice issues and orientation resource for new employees
- Oversee policy, procedure, and standard development and revision through evidence-based practice changes
- Perform routine audits to ensure staff education needs are addressed
- Develop, coordinate, and implement orientation, onboarding, clinical application, continuing education, and professional development activities
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers on clinical practice and documentation trends
- Facilitate practice and documentation changes
- Maintain and monitor staff competency records and report non-compliance
- Plan and coordinate educational presentations and activities
- Participate in professional governance, quality, safety, and accreditation meetings
- Recruit, prepare, and coordinate unit staff for preceptor positions
- Serve as a resource for professional growth across clinical roles
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Nursing work experience
- Availability to support night and weekend educational needs
- Work Monday–Friday schedule
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based educational programs
- Ability to perform staff competency validation, monitoring, audits, and needs assessments
- Ability to use information technology to obtain evidence supporting best practices
