About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist the Clinical Education team with orientation and onboarding, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships, and research/evidence-based practice/quality improvement
  • Collect and analyze educational-needs data, issues, trends, and supporting data
  • Identify desired outcomes and establish plans, strategies, alternatives, and resources
  • Coordinate education initiatives and activities to promote positive learning and practice environments
  • Provide consultation to influence plans and evaluate progress toward outcomes
  • Plan or present in-service programs
  • Develop, implement, and annually update the Learning System
  • Train new staff on the Learning System and develop participation/completion reports for managers and directors
  • Mentor and guide unit, department, and system educators
  • Communicate with colleagues, provide constructive feedback, and resolve issues
  • Establish positive relationships with physicians, department heads, and administrative teams
  • Demonstrate best practices for staff
  • Communicate changes in patients’ conditions to providers
  • Perform needs assessments and identify practice gaps
  • Design and deliver education sessions and evaluate learner response and patient-care outcomes
  • Facilitate training on new products, policies, and practices
  • Support onboarding for new clinical hires
  • Round on staff to support transitions to practice, competency completion, and retention
  • Facilitate clinic-staff planning, development, and education for environment-of-care standards
  • Collaborate with nurse managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) — Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days — American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Nursing Professional Development Certification (NPD-BC) within 2 years — American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies
  • Ensure documentation of care is complete and accurate
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to education
