About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and manage patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary team through the nursing process
  • Promote evidence-based practice through nursing processes, protocols, and procedures
  • Assess patient status through interviews, observation, and physical assessment
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized plans of care
  • Complete patient documentation, charts, and event reports
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot problems
  • Obtain adequate lab specimens and perform bedside lab testing with quality control
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care from admission through discharge
  • Prioritize assignments based on patient condition and changing needs
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and provide goal-focused shift reports
  • Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary
  • Educate patients and families using age-, cultural-, gender-, and developmental-appropriate strategies
  • Ensure patient safety and follow hospital policies and National Patient Safety Goals
  • Participate in performance improvement, data collection, audits, councils, and process changes
  • Promote patient, family, department, and physician satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • College Diploma: Nursing
  • Ability to work night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Weekend requirements: every other weekend
  • Holiday requirements: every other holiday
  • No on-call requirement
