About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide oncology nursing care to patients and families throughout their cancer journeys
- Perform unit-specific responsibilities and procedures within the scope of practice
- Maintain accurate nursing-care documentation for the healthcare team
- Complete admission assessments and develop, implement, and continuously evaluate plans of care
- Perform head-to-toe assessments, start IVs, insert NG tubes, change dressings, administer medications, and insert Foley catheters
- Access Mediports and maintain ports throughout the shift
- Assist with bedside bone marrow aspirations
- Provide emotional support to patients and families
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy throughout the hospital
- Report or correct safety hazards and incidents
- Communicate with colleagues, resolve issues, provide constructive peer feedback, and pursue learning needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
- H.S. Diploma/GED
- Work 7a-730p, three 12-hour shifts
- Work six weekend shifts/schedule
- Work every other holiday
- Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies
- Maintain documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits
