About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate and implement patient care in the outpatient infusion department under the Department Manager
  • Perform comprehensive physiological, psychological, spiritual, and educational patient/family assessments
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues and maintain Care Graph documentation
  • Identify individualized, realistic, and measurable patient outcomes
  • Develop and revise individualized plans of care, including discharge planning
  • Collaborate with co-workers, physicians, other disciplines, patients, and families
  • Set up IVs or other infusion devices to administer fluids or medication
  • Coordinate with in-hospital pharmacy to ensure correct medication dosage
  • Implement physician orders and age-appropriate patient care
  • Assign and coordinate patient care with ancillary personnel
  • Promote health, safety, healing, and patient advocacy
  • Educate patients and families regarding illness, treatment, medications, and discharge planning
  • Evaluate patient progress and effectiveness of the plan of care
  • Document care and communicate patient responses through verbal reports
  • Use patient, family, peer, and interdisciplinary feedback to improve care practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Oncology work experience
  • Ability to provide competent, evidence-based nursing care
  • Ability to administer age-appropriate patient care in accordance with practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and state and federal law
  • Position is part-time, 24 hours per week
  • Approximately 1 weekend per month
