About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and implement evidence-based patient care in the outpatient infusion department under the Department Manager
- Assess patients’ physiological, psychological, spiritual, and educational needs
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or patient-care issues
- Identify individualized, realistic, and measurable patient outcomes
- Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care
- Set up IV or other infusion devices to administer fluids or medication
- Coordinate with in-hospital pharmacy to ensure correct medication dosages
- Administer age-appropriate patient care and physician orders
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses and modify care as necessary
- Educate patients and families about illness, treatment, medications, and discharge planning
- Document assessments, care, outcomes, and verbal reports
- Collaborate with physicians, coworkers, ancillary personnel, patients, families, and other disciplines
- Serve as a patient advocate and promote a safe, healing environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Work experience in Oncology
- Ability to work weekends as needed
- Must comply with applicable state and federal laws, policies, procedures, and established practice guidelines
