About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver patient care that promotes patient safety and well-being under the direction of a health care provider
- Assist providers and clinical staff with vital signs, examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures
- Draw and collect blood and other patient samples for laboratory analysis
- Apply the nursing process within licensure guidelines
- Conduct telephone triage and document home-care advice and follow-up calls
- Administer vaccines and medications via oral, IM, SQ, or ID routes
- Place urinary catheters and IVs per protocol and license
- Schedule specialist and outpatient referrals and complete related forms, requisitions, and coding
- Manage specialty procedure precertification requirements
- Track follow-up appointments, laboratory tests, procedures, and disease status
- Document patient care in the electronic health record
- Supervise delegated duties to LPNs and CMAs under approved protocols
- Attend clinic and department meetings and monitor organizational communications
- Provide patient and family education using the Teach-back method
- Perform other duties requested by the Clinic Administrator
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
- College Diploma: Nursing
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines
- Maintain compliance with Compliance, HIPAA and personnel workplace rules
- Regular and consistent attendance at work
