About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate daily nursing and staffing activities within the Behavioral Health department
  • Monitor daily nursing workflow and perform staff nurse duties as needed
  • Oversee quality initiatives, process improvements, policies, procedures, supplies, equipment, and medication ordering
  • Manage staff education, competencies, orientation, evaluations, training, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and work assignments
  • Resolve work-related issues and support employees with complex situations
  • Provide and facilitate competent patient and family care while ensuring adherence to standards of care and scope of practice
  • Develop, implement, and participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits
  • Plan, administer, and evaluate patient care
  • Coordinate quality outcome metrics and data
  • Participate in organizational, departmental, nursing leadership, and division meetings
  • Support Psychiatry Residency program development and oversee involved nursing staff
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care conferences for high-risk patients
  • Support accreditation surveys and departmental audits and implement recommended changes
  • Serve as an educational liaison and behavioral health resource for nursing throughout the health system
  • Support the Patient Care Manager/Director with administrative duties and provide leadership through healthcare-team collaboration

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days
  • National Nursing Certification within 3 years (certification varies)
  • Behavioral health nursing work experience
  • Must work the day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Maintain clinical competencies for direct patient care
