About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Answer, schedule, document, and follow up on patient and provider inquiries received by telephone, internet-based, or written/electronic correspondence
- Direct patients to appropriate providers, services, or level of care
- Provide information so patients can fully utilize Carle services
- Facilitate communication among patients, providers, and the scheduling specialist
- Educate patients and providers about patient-care issues, insurance, providers, departments/locations, payment options, and service availability
- Obtain, update, and verify patient demographics, insurance, co-pays, and primary physicians
- Answer telephones and take and deliver messages to physicians, nurses, and others
- Report medical information from patients and referring physicians accurately, completely, and promptly
- Distribute messages according to practice communication standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Customer service work experience
- Ability to accurately screen, schedule, document, and follow up on patient and provider inquiries
- Ability to educate patients and providers regarding insurance, providers, departments/locations, payment options, and Carle services
- Ability to obtain, update, and verify patient demographics, insurance, co-pays, and primary physicians
- Ability to accurately and timely report medical information
- Mandatory first four weeks of training, Monday–Friday, including one evening and one weekend training shift
- Availability for rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements
