Key responsibilities & impact

Prepare and review timely bank reconciliations for assigned cash accounts
Research, analyze, and resolve complex cash reconciliation issues and posting discrepancies
Record and review cash transactions and journal entries with accurate coding
Reconcile bank, general ledger, revenue, payroll, treasury, grant, and other source records
Prepare cash account reconciliations and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close
Analyze cash activity, account balances, and reconciliation trends; identify root causes and corrective actions
Meet close deadlines and escalate unresolved differences, control concerns, compliance issues, and financial risks
Partner with operational departments to resolve complex cash issues and improve transaction flow
Support internal and external audits with documentation, reconciliations, analyses, and transaction support
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
Lead or support cash management automation initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements
Manage and monitor non-patient cash transactions, including grants, research funding, philanthropic contributions, endowment receipts, and other organizational cash receipts
Investigate and resolve cash application issues, reconciliation discrepancies, and payment exceptions across systems and departments
Serve as a subject matter expert for cash management processes, Workday Financial Management, and cash-related accounting procedures
Assist with Workday testing, upgrades, implementations, and workflow enhancements
Develop and improve cash management procedures, reconciliation standards, and internal control documentation
Provide guidance, training, and knowledge sharing to junior accountants and finance staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
Work experience in Finance or Accounting
Ability to reconcile bank accounts and cash activity
Experience resolving complex reconciling items, unidentified transactions, outstanding checks, fees, transfers, and posting discrepancies
Accurate account, entity, worktag, grant, and period coding
Knowledge of cash management, accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
Experience supporting internal and external audits
Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives
Workday Financial Management functionality and cash-related accounting procedures
Ability to provide guidance and training to junior accountants and finance staff
