About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as an integral part of the perioperative team as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Deliver safe and effective patient care during the intraoperative period
- Apply aseptic principles to maintain a sterile environment during surgical setup and procedures
- Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients according to department policies and procedures
- Organize and coordinate supplies and equipment
- Maintain a safe environment and comply with hospital safety, legal, and departmental requirements
- Charge equipment and supplies
- Participate in room turnover and setup
- Maintain and clean equipment and identify items needing repair
- Perform sterilization and disinfection and document loads
- Obtain supplies, equipment, and positioning devices and assist with patient positioning
- Perform scrubbing duties for medical students, residents, and other students
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology, Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology, or experience in lieu of education
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures
- Ability to problem solve in relation to the procedure being performed
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
- Basic knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers
- Knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork
- Knowledge and application of sterile technique during surgical procedures
