About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Function as an integral part of the perioperative team as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under Registered Nurse supervision
Deliver safe and effective patient care during the intraoperative period
Apply aseptic principles to maintain a sterile environment during surgical setup and procedures
Organize and coordinate supplies and equipment
Maintain a safe environment and follow hospital, unit, legal, and safety requirements
Charge for equipment and supplies
Participate in room turnover and setup
Maintain and clean equipment and identify items needing repair
Perform sterilization and disinfection and document loads
Assist with supplies, equipment, positioning devices, and patient positioning
Perform scrubbing duties, including classes for medical students, residents, and other students
Turn over operating rooms and set them up for the next patient efficiently

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology, Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology, or experience in lieu of education
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures
Ability to problem solve in relation to the procedure being performed
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
Basic knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers
Knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork
Applies principles of sterile technique during surgical procedures
