About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide routine rehabilitation activities under the direct supervision of a licensed physical, occupational, or speech therapist
  • Transfer and transport therapy patients
  • Assist licensed therapists with direct patient care and group therapy services in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy
  • Communicate patient problems or behavioral changes to the attending therapist
  • Perform daily sanitation of gym areas and clean equipment, tables, mats, and patient-contact areas
  • Promote patient safety and participate in safety initiatives
  • Participate in continuous quality-improvement projects
  • Follow safety and infection-control measures and report problems to the supervisor
  • Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and continuing education programs
  • Support patient-satisfaction initiatives and meet patient and family needs
  • Report equipment malfunctions and follow repair procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to provide routine rehabilitation activities under the direct supervision of a licensed physical, occupational, or speech therapist
  • Ability to transfer and transport therapy patients
  • Ability to communicate with patients, team members, and other professionals
  • Ability to establish rapport with patients of all ages
  • Competency in assigned direct patient-care activities
  • Flexibility to work weekends when patient volumes are high
  • Flexibility to work holidays when patient volumes are high
  • Completion of competencies in a timely manner
  • Ability to follow safety and infection-control measures
  • Position is as needed (PRN)
