About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clerical support in the Emergency Department
- Answer incoming Emergency Department phone calls
- Manage patient admissions and discharges in the EPIC electronic medical record system
- Complete data tracking and documentation for EKGs and telemetry boxes
- Liaise with outside facilities, physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families
- Coordinate patient care and communication with healthcare teams
- Maintain and replenish office and nursing station supplies
- Complete and maintain administrative paperwork for Emergency Department staff
- Schedule non-emergent patient transportation
- Facilitate communication between hospital departments, clinics, and nursing units
- Notify nursing staff of required tests, examinations, and significant patient concerns
- Initiate and document daily Level 1 Trauma and Medical Alert system testing
- Send and receive items through the pneumatic tube system
- Submit work orders for facility and equipment issues
- Route broken equipment for repair
- Monitor and coordinate patient flow within the Emergency Department
- Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation
- Support efficient department workflows and unit operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- H.S. Diploma/GED
- Healthcare work experience preferred
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Work three 12-hour shifts per week
- Work every other weekend
- Work rotating holidays
- No on-call requirements
- Ability to use EPIC electronic medical record system
- Ability to complete administrative documentation and data tracking
- Ability to facilitate communication and coordinate patient care and resources
