About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Report to the Managing Editor of City Cast DC

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A nose for news and ability to identify and pitch worthwhile stories
  • Ability to recognize distinctive story angles
  • Deep passion and curiosity for DC and understanding of its complexity
  • Strong connections and an existing network of sources, or demonstrated ability to build sources quickly
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to turn around daily stories quickly and cleanly
  • 3+ years of reporting experience in a deadline-driven editorial environment
  • Experience using social media to build audience
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask in a fast-paced news organization
  • Must be local
