About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical accountability for assigned purchase parts from NPI through the product life cycle, including quality management
  • Liaise between internal customers and external supplier contacts
  • Lead resolution of quality problems involving purchased materials and engineering issues
  • Manage concept drawings, supplier communication, design/drawing review and acceptance, Windchill activities, BAAN functions, tooling management, and Q Notes
  • Serve as technical liaison through methods including supplier site visits
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional projects using 6 Sigma tools
  • Develop supplier quality metrics and gather and distribute monthly measurements
  • Review, analyze, and report supplier quality performance data and trends
  • Lead SARN and RN resolution
  • Initiate root cause analysis and implement supplier corrective and preventive action plans
  • Participate in continuous process improvement and warranty cost recovery related to supplier quality
  • Collaborate with Sourcing Specialists, Buyers, Supplier Development Engineers, and Material Schedulers to improve supplier cost, quality, and throughput
  • Maintain knowledge of technological developments and trends for commodity team guidance
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise in supplier selection
  • Participate in supplier qualification, selection, and ongoing evaluation
  • Coordinate with engineering personnel on CPPD, NPI, and CPI teams
  • Lead PPAP and develop FAPITP with initial input from Design Engineering
  • Identify and provide tooling input to the Buyer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • An undergraduate degree from a college or university, preferably in engineering
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies and knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures
  • Familiarity with engineering practices and process planning, including interpretation of drawings, tooling concepts, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and Functional Test
  • Familiarity with project management and Design of Experiment (DOE)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with quality management principles
  • Some travel may be required
  • Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Successful completion of a drug screen required as a condition of employment
