About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build, integrate, and optimize AI Assistants and agent-based solutions for natural-language information retrieval, workflow execution, and business-process support
Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise data sources, APIs, knowledge bases, document repositories, and business applications
Implement prompt engineering, grounding, retrieval, memory management, and agent orchestration techniques
Develop document ingestion, metadata extraction, chunking, indexing, and knowledge-management pipelines
Evaluate, test, and optimize AI solutions for accuracy, latency, and cost efficiency
Collaborate with product, engineering, and domain teams to define requirements and deliver production-ready AI capabilities
Implement observability, monitoring, evaluation, and feedback mechanisms
Support deployment, productionization, security, access controls, auditability, and governance
Stay current with LLMs, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, knowledge graphs, and AI platform technologies
Contribute to Caterpillar’s Manufacturing & Supply Digital Platform using AI, digital twins, automation, and data-driven solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar orchestration platforms
Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
Familiarity with vector databases such as Milvus and Pinecone
Experience building and deploying AI Assistants, Copilots, or conversational AI solutions for business or operational use cases
Exposure to agent orchestration, tool calling, workflow automation, and multi-agent systems
Deep expertise in Python, especially with PyTorch/TensorFlow
Experience with model training and fine-tuning for vision, text, and audio
Knowledge of machine learning techniques including anomaly detection and predictive analytics
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, mathematics, or a similar field with quantitative coursework, and 4–5 years of professional experience utilizing quantitative analysis; alternatively, a Master’s degree and 2–3 years of experience
