About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Contribute to development and deployment of Caterpillar’s digital platform.
Perform programming and development assignments, including complex systems work.
Identify and resolve complex application and technical problems, including off-shift and weekend support calls.
Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components used by applications or systems.
Drive application development focused on delivering business-value features.
Maintain high software-quality standards by establishing good practices and habits.
Identify and encourage areas for team growth and improvement.
Mentor junior developers.
Communicate with end users and internal customers to direct development, debugging, and testing of application software.
Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing.
Manage individual work assignments and coordinate work with others.
Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on developing new approaches to quality goals.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
5+ years or more of software development experience, or at least 2 years of experience with a master’s degree in computer science or related field.
5+ years or more of experience designing and developing data pipelines in Python.
Experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software at scale, with good understanding of concurrency.
In-depth understanding of processing data pipelines and strong data modelling skills.
Expertise and experience building large data lakes and data warehouses such as Snowflake (preferred), Redshift, or Synapse.
Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases.
At least 4+ years of deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure.
Experience working within an Agile framework, ideally Scrum.
Strong analytical skills.
Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
Passion for technology and eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated leadership on medium- to large-scale projects impacting strategic priorities.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field is required.
