About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead electronic systems and software development teams in New Product Introduction, Lifecycle Management, and continuous improvement
- Provide technical, operational, and people leadership to engineering teams
- Collaborate with machine development organizations and global engineering organizations
- Plan, design, develop, and deliver electronic systems and software aligned with machine development programs
- Provide direct supervision for approximately 10–25 engineering professionals
- Manage staffing, coaching, mentoring, performance management, career development, and inclusive team culture
- Align resources to strategic priorities and drive execution across multiple product platforms and engineering teams
- Lead new product introduction, lifecycle management, problem resolution, cost control, quality, and intellectual property management
- Capture lessons learned to inform product requirements, product line decisions, and process and organizational improvements
- Frame ambiguous opportunities into project scope, plans, decision points, and recommendations
- Align new technology with business opportunities and apply technology initiatives across Caterpillar products
- Collaborate across hardware and software development teams and machine Product Groups
- Develop tactical, operational, and strategic plans and allocate resources
- Make informed decisions by analyzing situations, options, assumptions, and potential impacts
- Communicate persuasively with diverse audiences and influence stakeholders
- Respond to customer and market needs and competitive shifts
- Manage performance, conflicts, employee morale, and team development
- Build global networks and facilitate collaboration, brainstorming, and collective problem-solving
- Provide subject-matter expertise and coach others
Requirements
What you’ll need- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Direct supervisory experience
- Demonstrated strong timely staff work needed to manage the business
- Systems, controls, and/or embedded software development experience
- Experience with New Product Introduction, New Technology Introduction, Continuous Product Improvement, and software validation
- Demonstrated communication skills and ability to relate complex technical topics to business objectives
- Ability to work in a diverse global team environment
- Deep expertise in machine electronic systems engineering, including system architecture, controls, integration, and product development
- Expertise in requirements management, design quality, validation, reliability, functional safety, cybersecurity, and product performance
- Strong systems thinking, technical decision-making, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration
- Full-time onsite work in Mossville, IL or Peoria, IL
- Ability to travel 10%
- No visa sponsorship is available
- Successful completion of a drug screen
