About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Architect large-scale applications and create high- and low-level designs
- Design and develop distributed, highly available, and reliable web applications using Java/J2EE
- Develop microservices using Spring Boot and Spring MVC in multithreaded, distributed environments
- Collaborate across teams to modernize applications from legacy components to current frameworks, architectures, and design patterns
- Manage application source code with CI/CD pipelines
- Implement security concepts throughout the application lifecycle, including shift-left practices and vulnerability remediation
- Perform programming, project management, and development assignments independently
- Identify and resolve complex application and technical problems, including off-shift and weekend support
- Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components supporting one or more applications
- Drive application development focused on valuable business features
- Establish software quality practices and coding guidelines
- Identify and encourage team growth and improvement areas
- Communicate with end users and internal customers to direct development, debugging, and testing
- Perform integrated and customer acceptance testing with careful planning and execution
Requirements
What you’ll need- More than 14 years of application development experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate/Spring Data JPA, Spring WebFlux, Spring Modulith, OpenAPI, Liquibase/Flyway
- Experience providing technical solutions and architecture, understanding business requirements, and providing high- and low-level designs
- Experience in design, analysis, programming, integration, debugging, testing, and implementation activities
- Experience developing web-based applications using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React/Angular frameworks
- Experience identifying technical problems and recommending solutions
- Experience architecting large-scale systems focused on performance, scalability, high availability, reliability, and fault tolerance
- Experience developing applications with event-driven architecture using Kafka, SQS, or Pub/Sub models
- Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot for software development and testing, and using AI/GenAI for automation
- Experience developing microservices with containerized architectures using Docker/Kubernetes and design patterns
- Ability to quickly learn modern technologies and apply them with an enterprise perspective
- Strength in source code management strategies using Git and other popular tools
- Experience with GitLab, GitHub, or Azure Repos
- Experience with application unit testing using JUnit, Mockito, Bruno, etc.
- Experience optimizing application performance using cache mechanisms and other solutions
- Experience implementing security concepts in application development and deploying on AWS cloud platforms
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation, ECS Fargate, RDS, ALB, Lambda, S3, ElastiCache, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Grafana/Prometheus/CloudWatch, and API Gateway
- Experience with vulnerability remediation and automating security measures in application development
- Experience with DevOps/security tools including Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, and similar tools
- Understanding of modern web development security threats and security best practices
- Understanding of REST, GraphQL, and gRPC
- Familiarity with two or more databases, such as DB2 and PostgreSQL
- Basic understanding of networking concepts relevant to Java/J2EE hosting, including load balancing, DNS, HTTP, and SSL/TLS
- Desired: APIGee, SAFe, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, corporate security compliance/remediation, Azure or AWS, cloud security policies, SonarQube, CodeQL, Rapid7, Artifactory/XRay, and Fortify
