About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide senior leadership for all Environmental Health and Safety activities at the division level
  • Execute the enterprise strategic roadmap covering safety culture, compliance, auditing, education, employee development, and change management
  • Serve as division EHS process owner and develop and continuously improve EHS processes, tools, and training
  • Engage division leadership to address environmental risks and protect employees from workplace hazards
  • Create the vision for change and facilitate collaborative relationships within the division and across functional groups
  • Manage, guide, and support strategies for Caterpillar’s Sustainable Development initiatives
  • Lead EHS strategy for more than 4,000 people globally
  • Report directly to Human Resources
  • Deliver regulatory compliance, corporate-procedure conformance, strategic initiatives, and division goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive progressive leadership experience in Environmental Health and Safety, preferably in manufacturing, remanufacturing, heavy equipment, industrial, or global operations environments
  • Experience leading enterprise- or division-level EHS strategy, compliance programs, audits, risk reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, partner across functions, and drive alignment in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Knowledge of performance management tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of decision-making processes and critical-thinking tools and techniques
  • Effective communication knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of change-management techniques
  • Strategic-thinking and organizational-acumen skills
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety standards, policies, and practices
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Knowledge of sustainability concepts and sustainable business practices
  • Advanced degree or professional EHS certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or ASP preferred
  • Must pass background screening
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening
