About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead engine strategy development to support future emissions regulations for BCP products globally
  • Communicate emissions requirements to product groups to align with future product development plans
  • Guide technical and product development professionals in designing and developing technologies supporting multi-generational product plans and New Product Introduction programs
  • Establish and grow relationships across CI and enterprise partners
  • Coach and mentor Engine Systems team members globally in performance and integration
  • Provide strategic vision and multi-generation product planning for new technologies across multiple prime machine product lines
  • Develop emerging technologies and guide technology selections based on customer value, maturity, and return on investment
  • Prioritize programs and daily activities based on customer back, business impact, technical risks, and timelines
  • Coordinate, align, and leverage enterprise strategies and investments
  • Identify, track, and communicate industry developments and trends
  • Develop relationships with product groups, system engineering, commercial teams, test and validation, and enterprise partners
  • Set up and manage remote CAN-based data acquisition devices to monitor engine and emissions system performance and health
  • Lead and specify engine performance requirements, including lug curves, transient response, fuel consumption, altitude, and cold ambient parameters
  • Measure and analyze engine and emissions system performance, identify issues, and determine corrective actions with the engine division
  • Support Scope 3 emissions reporting for BCP
  • Support alternative fuels and hybrid powertrain technology initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other accredited engineering curriculum
  • Understanding effective communication concepts, tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of Emission Regulations, Engine design / development and installation within multiple applications
  • Ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and tools; ability to determine root causes and create alternative solutions
  • Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques
  • High levels of accuracy and precision
  • Knowledge of problem-solving approaches, tools, and techniques
  • Knowledge of project management strategies and tactics
  • Ability to communicate globally, collaborate, and build trust across diverse people internally and externally
  • Proven experience coaching and mentoring a team
  • Off Highway Machine and hands-on experience
  • Cold start or extended ambient / altitude testing experience and willingness to get on machines to support testing and development
  • Previous direct experience leading engine system design, development, manufacture, and validation in emission performance and architecture
  • Ability to identify and create customer value with high return on investment
  • Ability to leverage enterprise investments and align with corporate strategies
  • Technical validation experience (DFMEA, DOE)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt – DMAIC
  • Experience with simulation and reporting tools such as Python, MATLAB or Dynasty, Power BI, and Tableau
  • Experience with CANape, CANalyzer, Cadet, DATK, Python, and SQL
