About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications
- Develop new functionality and applications on cross-functional Agile project teams
- Collaborate with business and internal customers on development, debugging, and testing
- Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Node.js 22, Express, and openapi-backend
- Build and maintain API clients, services, and controllers integrating with downstream enterprise systems
- Implement and optimize multi-tier Redis caching
- Support deployment and operation on AWS Lambda and ECS/Fargate
- Collaborate with mobile app engineers, architecture teams, and enterprise system owners
- Participate in code reviews and uphold coding standards
- Mentor other engineers on the team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to work independently and design, develop, test, and deploy software applications
- Knowledge of software development life cycle
- Knowledge of software integration processes and functions
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Node.js
- Experience building production API and integration services
- Experience with API design and OpenAPI/REST
- Experience with request/response validation and service-to-service integration
- Understanding of Redis caching strategies
- Understanding of authentication/authorization patterns and secure token handling
- Experience with AWS Lambda, ECS/Fargate, and Serverless Framework
- Familiarity with JSDoc, TypeScript checking, and automated testing frameworks such as Vitest
- Ability to work in a multi-repo environment supporting a React Native mobile client
- Experience with agile development methodologies and tools
- Experience mentoring software engineering teams
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with commercial database systems and web-based software design
- Certifications in AWS, Azure, or relevant cloud technologies are additional skills
- Successful completion of a drug screen required for employment
