About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of Caterpillar’s digital platform
Build a platform to host a wide range of digital applications
Develop and maintain mobile, web, cloud, server, and distributed computing systems
Perform programming, project management, and development assignments, including complex systems work
Identify and resolve complex application and technical problems, including off-shift and weekend support
Drive application development focused on delivering business-value features
Mentor and assist software engineers with technical guidance
Establish software quality practices and identify areas for team growth and improvement
Guide development of application/interface code, program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides
Communicate with end users and internal customers regarding development, debugging, and testing
Perform integrated and customer acceptance testing
Manage work assignments, coordinate with others, set priorities, and establish work plans
Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on quality goals

Requirements

What you’ll need

Four-year degree from an accredited college or university
Three years or more of experience designing and developing software applications in ReactJS
Five years or more of software development experience, or at least three years of experience with a master’s degree in computer science or related field
Demonstrated leadership on small to medium-scale projects impacting strategic priorities
Experience designing, developing, deploying and maintaining software at scale
Experience developing software applications using relational and NoSQL databases
Knowledge of application architectural patterns such as MVC, Microservices, and Event-driven
Experience deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, or Azure DevOps
Experience deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure
Experience working within an Agile framework, ideally Scrum
Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, Sass, Bootstrap, JavaScript, TypeScript, Webpack, Babel, Redux, Jest, React Testing Library, Git, Node, and NPM
One year or more of experience designing and developing software applications in Java
Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms
Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field is required
