About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess supplier quality and ensure products are free from defects and comply with manufacturing specifications and legal standards
  • Conduct tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify quality issues
  • Develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms
  • Generate reports on supplier quality by monitoring defect rates and potential flaw areas
  • Guide suppliers in reducing defect rates
  • Research potential vendors and assess their manufacturing environments, practices, and procedures
  • Conduct supplier quality control audits for compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards
  • Support suppliers in improving performance through process enhancements, process controls, and quality assurance plans
  • Facilitate supplier partnering arrangements that share risk and reward
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements
  • Develop supplier quality standards and controls
  • Build and maintain partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers
  • Evaluate issues and terminate supplier relationships as appropriate, working with legal departments
  • Ensure report and record-keeping requirements are fulfilled
  • Travel up to 30% as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience in effective communication
  • Extensive experience in problem solving
  • Extensive experience in process improvement
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing standards, procedures and policies
  • Extensive experience in supplier management for manufacturing
  • Expert knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification
  • Prior Supplier Development Experience may be required/preferred for top candidates
  • Manufacturing experience, including running, evaluating, setting up, and troubleshooting machinery, may be beneficial
  • ASQ Certification may be beneficial
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • Must work onsite five days a week
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Successful completion of a drug screen required as a condition of employment
