About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of Caterpillar’s digital applications
Participate in new program development and maintenance of mobile, web, cloud, server, and distributed computing systems
Build backend microservices using the Spring Boot framework
Identify and resolve complex application and technical problems, including off-shift and weekend support
Work on complex systems or infrastructure components under Lead and Senior Developer mentorship
Drive application development focused on delivering business-value features
Maintain software quality standards and establish good development practices
Support development, debugging, and testing for application accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness
Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing
Collaborate with project leads, senior developers, and testers
Perform other duties assigned by Caterpillar management

Requirements

What you’ll need

Position requires a four-year degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
3+ years of software development experience
1+ years of experience working with Java Spring Boot framework
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot framework and OSGi specification
Strong knowledge of microservice logging, monitoring, debugging, and testing
Strong proficiency in Java programming language
Knowledge of RESTful web services and API development
Knowledge of JSON and YAML markup languages
Experience interconnecting microservices with databases
Experience in microservice integration, packaging, build automation, and deployment
Understanding of software development principles and methodologies
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with developers and stakeholders
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
