About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess supplier quality and ensure products are free from defects and comply with manufacturing specifications and legal standards
- Conduct tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify quality issues
- Develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms
- Monitor supplier defect rates and identify potential flaws
- Guide suppliers to reduce defect rates
- Research potential vendors and assess their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures
- Conduct supplier quality control audits for compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards
- Support suppliers in improving performance through process enhancements and process controls
- Develop quality assurance plans
- Develop testing and validation procedures for manufactured parts and products
- Monitor PPAP execution and ensure compliance with industry standards and internal guidelines
- Review PPAP documentation and submissions
- Develop and maintain supplier partnerships and resolve supplier performance discrepancies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree or equivalent experience desired
- Ability to effectively communicate, transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs
- Ability to identify, anticipate, and resolve organizational, operational, or process problems
- Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques
- Extensive experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including testing, validation, implementation, submissions, documentation, and training
- Knowledge of manufacturing standards, procedures, and policies
- Extensive experience managing manufacturing suppliers, including supplier performance, quality standards, controls, partnerships, and records
- Knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification
- Ability to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office
