About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage monthly payroll end-to-end via Smartly, including contractor payments and compliance
Prepare and report a 90-day rolling cashflow forecast in Xero weekly to the leadership team
Produce weekly revenue roll-call reporting with the Production team
Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, budget variance, and balance sheet
Process, code, and pay accounts payable invoices
Prepare client and supplier invoicing tied to project milestones
Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations
Manage the day-to-day relationship with external accountants
Coordinate the annual R&D tax credit claim
Manage contractor onboarding, compliance, and scheduled payments
Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Production team, wider crew, and external accountants

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of accounting or commercial finance experience
End-to-end payroll experience
NZ and ideally Australian contractor compliance experience
Proficiency in Xero and Smartly
Strong Excel skills
Solid grasp of NZ bookkeeping, GST, and employment compliance
Understanding of revenue recognition, including percentage-completion accounting
Experience in a project-based or creative environment is advantageous
Ability to work in a fast-paced, scale-up environment
Adaptability and willingness to wear multiple hats
Ability to work independently and proactively
Must work in the office three days a week minimum
Must be based in Auckland
