About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, operate, and maintain training systems used at NAS Fallon, Nevada
- Operate and maintain computer information services
- Maintain and repair workstations and laptop computers
- Perform software maintenance, upgrades, application installations, debugging, and checkout
- Monitor network and client/server communications and resolve data communications problems
- Assist with automating report generation
- Diagnose computer problems using diagnostic commands, screen codes, and technical reference manuals
- Instruct users on proper LAN/WAN use and problem-resolution methods
- Record LAN/WAN malfunctions and corrective actions
- Update documentation for equipment, sites, and computer configuration changes
- Install communications media and equipment, including copper, fiber, microwave, and radio equipment
- Attend staff meetings to report and resolve recurring data communication problems
- Perform system maintenance and implement required changes
- Assist users with data communications problems and review troubleshooting procedures
- Explain procedures for entering, compiling, and transmitting data
- Maintain standard file server and workstation configurations with staff and the Government
- Ensure data backups are created and maintained for system and service restoration
- Create and deliver customer training for end users and management
- Identify and implement LAN/WAN enhancements
- Report progress and unusual complications to the supervisor
- Work with Cyber Security on RMF documentation, vulnerability remediation, STIGs, checklists, and related actions
- Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians
- Perform organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on assigned equipment
- Perform system operation
- Assist the Government with CMS duties as required
- Cross-train and qualify to operate at least two additional TACTS systems
- Document maintenance actions in IEMS
- Report to the Information Technology Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Four years’ experience in the installation and maintenance of client and server operating systems
- Experience with DoD-approved client/server operating systems
- Experience with LAN/WAN technology, including advanced configuration of switches, routers, media converters, and video distribution and storage systems
- Experience with design, installation, operation, and maintenance of databases
- Experience with copper wire, fiber, microwave, or radio frequency technology and protocols
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy “C” School or vocational school training in electronic equipment maintenance
- Equipment manufacturer training
- Valid state Driver’s License
- Completion of DoD corporate recurring training, including Information Assurance Training, CPR, and First Aid
- CyberIT/CSWF Specialty Code 45 – System Administration – Intermediate/Journeyman qualification under DoD 8140 and SECNAV M-5239.2
- US Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance
- Ability to work under deadlines and possess planning/organizing skills
- Ability to perform required physical duties, including lifting 15–25 pounds and occasionally over 45 pounds
- Willingness and ability to work in office, shop, facility, and outdoor environments with exposure to physical and environmental hazards
