About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, execute, and document functional, regression, and smoke testing activities
- Develop, document, and maintain test cases, test data, and test results using Jira or similar tools
- Validate defects, isolate and reproduce issues, and manage defect lifecycles
- Coordinate retesting as needed
- Ensure application functionality adheres to Section 508 accessibility requirements
- Support automated testing with Swagger/OpenAPI and review unit tests
- Maintain traceability between requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases
- Participate in backlog refinement, requirements clarification, and sprint planning with the Product Owner, Business Analysts, and delivery team
- Provide feedback to developers and product team members on system behavior, edge cases, and risks
- Support integration testing and verify data flows across application and service components
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Report to the Program Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in functional, regression, and smoke testing across software applications
- Proven expertise in structured manual testing, including requirement-based testing and defect validation
- Familiarity with API testing methodologies and tools such as Swagger or OpenAPI
- Foundational understanding or exposure to automated testing concepts, including unit-level testing frameworks
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and iterative testing approaches
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into concise, repeatable, and traceable test cases
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar test management tools
- Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, multitasking, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to evolving responsibilities
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods
- Ability to use computers and office productivity tools with sufficient speed
- Ability to sit for long periods looking at a computer screen
