About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain custom Jira and Jira Service Management functionality using Groovy (ScriptRunner) and Java
  • Build automation scripts, post-functions, listeners, validators, and conditions
  • Design and manage REST API integrations using JSON payloads and structured data transformations
  • Configure and programmatically manage Jira workflows, transitions, issue types, schemes, screens, field configurations, custom fields, and contexts
  • Write optimized JQL queries for complex scripted searches and logical operations
  • Build Jira Assets object models and automation rules supporting ITSM processes
  • Design automation solutions compatible with Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud
  • Build and maintain external-system integrations and reliable JSON data exchanges
  • Write and execute SQL queries for reporting, troubleshooting, and performance analysis
  • Diagnose and resolve scripting, workflow, automation, API, and database issues
  • Document custom configurations, development activities, and integration workflows
  • Report to the Program Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-Year Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, OR Equivalent Experience
  • 8+ years of professional experience in Jira development, scripting, and integration
  • Proficiency in Groovy (ScriptRunner) and Java
  • Hands-on experience with REST API development and JSON data structures
  • Deep technical knowledge of Jira workflows, Jira Assets (formerly Insight), ITSM processes, and Jira configuration
  • Experience with Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud, including migrations and cross-platform development
  • Advanced JQL skills
  • Expertise in writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • Ability to build reusable object models and automation rules
  • Strong debugging and system-performance optimization skills
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, adapt to changing priorities, and learn quickly
  • Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to work onsite in the main office
  • Ability to sit for long periods and use computers and office productivity tools
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including outside normal business hours
  • May be required to travel for business or professional development
