About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer and manage computer systems in a classified and secure environment
  • Monitor and maintain Windows and UNIX-based operating systems, including Linux or Solaris
  • Perform preventive maintenance to enhance system reliability and minimize downtime
  • Analyze system faults and recommend solutions
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and diagnostic testing on operating systems and hardware
  • Evaluate and install software at various testing and implementation stages
  • Review and document system tests and software installations
  • Investigate methods for problem identification, resolution, and system improvement
  • Identify risks and recommend potential mitigations through documented analysis and testing
  • Support systems and environmental solutions for multiple concurrent projects
  • Support system upgrades, migrations, and integrations with minimal disruption
  • Interface with vendors regarding unresolved issues and hardware/software repairs
  • Prepare and update system designs, user guides, and test documentation
  • Ensure documentation complies with internal policies and government standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Report to the Program Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience (less than 2 years)
  • Foundational knowledge of system administration and basic troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, or Solaris
  • Possessing or obtaining a relevant Information Assurance (IA) certification, such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, or CISSP
  • Top-Secret Clearance is required
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Additional background checks may be required during employment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High-level attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Knowledge of basic network and system configurations preferred
  • Familiarity with VMware or Hyper-V preferred
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity practices and DoD information systems policies and standards preferred
  • Ability to work onsite in the main office
  • Ability to lift and move hardware equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to sit for long periods while looking at a computer screen
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays or outside normal business hours when required
