About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical guidance and monitor information systems operations
- Design, build, integrate, and implement advanced LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructure
- Direct and manage records and reports related to network operations and maintenance
- Troubleshoot complex network performance issues, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend sustainable solutions
- Analyze network traffic patterns and develop capacity planning strategies
- Monitor and respond to sophisticated hardware and software issues in technical control facilities
- Collaborate with vendor support teams to resolve network outages and degraded performance
- Manage procurement, setup, testing, installation, and support across networking communications system lifecycles
- Perform system-level design and configuration, including hardware specifications, operating systems, and platform configurations
- Plan and oversee large-scale network systems projects, including vendor comparisons, cost analyses, and performance evaluations
- Lead systems engineering tasks involving design, integration, personnel coordination, and project implementation
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and evaluate new and existing software products
- Report to the Program Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 years in network-related roles that include systems design, integration, and troubleshooting
- Certifications (Required): Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and systems, such as routing, switching, wireless, and advanced network architectures
- Proficient in network traffic analysis, capacity planning methodologies, and troubleshooting tools
- Expertise in system-level design and configuration, with experience selecting hardware and software platforms based on organizational needs
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage large-scale systems projects with vendor comparisons, cost studies, and performance metrics
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering practices, including design, integration, implementation, and personnel/resource coordination within network environments
- Skilled in conducting quality assurance reviews and evaluating the performance of new and existing software products
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of working across multi-functional teams and vendors
- Ability to work independently on complex network challenges and contribute to team-wide collaboration efforts for technical solutions
- A Top-Secret Security Clearance is required
- Must be able to pass a background check; additional background checks may be required
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and on a multi-functional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to make high-pressure decisions during network outages and critical project deadlines
- Ability to lift and carry networking equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in high-security areas under strict access controls
- Compliance with security clearances and monitoring systems is mandatory
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including holidays and outside normal business hours, as required
