About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide expert-level technical guidance and lead strategic network operations
- Design, implement, and manage LAN, MAN, and WAN network infrastructure
- Develop advanced network systems meeting technical standards and customer requirements
- Create scalable solutions through system-level design and network configuration
- Select hardware, operating systems, and platform specifications
- Perform capacity planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons for large-scale projects
- Compile records and analytical reports related to network operations and maintenance
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network performance issues
- Analyze and monitor network traffic and identify performance improvements
- Conduct routine testing and analysis of network systems and communications equipment
- Monitor and respond to complex technical control hardware and software issues in real time
- Coordinate with vendor support groups to resolve outages and degraded performance
- Oversee purchase, installation, testing, and support of network equipment and software
- Supervise personnel performing multi-platform network operations
- Provide technical oversight for LAN/MAN/WAN administration, operating systems programming, system security, and web strategy implementation
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and evaluate software integrations
- Develop and implement network security policies and procedures
- Contribute to policy, standards, and operating-budget discussions
- Use diagnostic tools to improve network reliability, scalability, and efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Report to the Program Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in network systems, technical guidance, and operations support
- At least one mandatory certification: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CompTIA Linux +, Red Hat Linux, or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
- Top-Secret Security Clearance required
- Must be able to pass a background check and may require additional project/client background checks
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, and learn quickly
- Self-motivated; able to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to make high-pressure decisions during network outages and critical project deadlines
- Preferred: deep knowledge of systems engineering, network configurations, and administrative practices in large-scale or high-stakes environments
- Preferred: experience supervising cross-functional teams in multi-shift or complex technical operations
- Preferred: proficiency troubleshooting with advanced diagnostic tools
- Preferred: communication and leadership skills for policy-level discussions and technology budgeting
- Ability to work onsite in the main office
- Ability to lift and carry networking equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move around server rooms or data centers, including bending, kneeling, or climbing ladders
- Ability to work extended periods, sit for long periods, and use computers effectively
- Ability to work in high-security areas under strict access controls
- Compliance with security clearances and monitoring systems
- May work flexible schedules, holidays, and outside normal business hours
- May be required to travel
