Senior Advisor, Sustainable Resources

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of international climate change policies and programs
- Support engagement in programs, global partnerships, and trust funds focused on sustainable landscapes, climate finance, mitigation strategies, and carbon markets
- Represent client interests in governance bodies and contribute to oversight and policy development
- Formulate and implement strategies addressing REDD+, agriculture, NDCs, mid-century strategies, climate finance, and market mechanisms
- Develop country ambition and implementation strategies for priority countries in the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia
- Design and shape international and bilateral climate-related programs
- Support representation in UNFCCC negotiations and other international forums
- Support operationalization and monitoring of climate-related foreign assistance programs
- Produce measurable results in sustainable landscapes, REDD+, climate-smart agriculture, and carbon market initiatives
- Prepare memos, speeches, position papers, decision memoranda, talking points, meeting summaries, correspondence, and other communications
- Report to the Program Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of five years of relevant experience
- An advanced degree in a related field, such as public policy, economics, law, or environmental studies
- Proven experience in international negotiations, projects, and/or programs, particularly in sustainable landscapes and REDD+ areas
- Familiarity with REDD+ and sustainable landscapes policy and financing mechanisms
- Expertise in major REDD+ and sustainable landscapes partnerships, such as the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility and Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes
- Knowledge of UNFCCC negotiations, especially the current state of play in ongoing discussions
- Experience with international forest and land use platforms, including the Tropical Forest Alliance and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development, including public-private partnerships
- Strong project and program management capabilities and strategic planning expertise
- Ability to work collaboratively with policymakers, government representatives, businesses, and non-governmental organizations
- Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and maintain productive relationships across teams
- Secret Security Clearance is required; must have an active Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must be able to pass a background check and potentially additional project/client background checks
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to work onsite in the main office
- Ability to sit for long periods while looking at a computer screen
- May be required to work outside normal business hours
