Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a technical expert and strategic partner integrating behavioral economics, cognitive psychology, and applied social sciences into policies and programs
  • Collaborate with clients, senior data scientists, government stakeholders, leadership, and multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Translate behavioral science research into actionable solutions and deliverables
  • Design, plan, and execute behavioral intervention projects from assessments and diagnostics through experimental evaluations
  • Develop data-driven recommendations for policy, operations, and strategic direction
  • Support federal agencies through analytical models and decision-making frameworks that improve compliance and operational efficiency
  • Engage senior government stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data engineering and analytics objectives
  • Develop strategies for data integration, transformation, and analysis
  • Mentor junior researchers and team members and guide cross-functional teams
  • Design and deploy data-driven solutions and integrate them into operational frameworks
  • Drive projects independently with ownership and accountability for timely, high-quality deliverables
  • Develop behavioral strategies aligned with organizational priorities and measurable outcomes
  • Manage multiple projects and research priorities under tight timelines
  • Present findings to executive leadership and shape strategic policy or program design
  • Identify behavioral frictions, biases, and decision bottlenecks
  • Evaluate interventions and formulate implementation recommendations
  • Report to the Program Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced degree (master’s or PhD) in Public Policy, Behavioral Economics, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Decision Sciences, Human Factors, or a related field
  • 7–10+ years of experience applying behavioral science in organizational, government, consulting, or policy environments
  • Formal training in experimental design, statistical analysis, customer experience, or behavioral research methodologies
  • Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral interventions
  • Strong working knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of quantitative results
  • Experience translating academic research into practical, scalable solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale data solutions
  • Prior work within public sector, regulated environments, or mission-driven organizations is strongly preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust Clearance
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Knowledge of statistical programming languages such as SAS or R, or data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Strong command of data security, governance, and compliance principles
  • Ability to communicate complex data engineering and analytics concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work independently in deadline-oriented environments and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of data into actionable recommendations
  • Familiarity with data analytics, causal inference, and behavioral measurement frameworks
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to work onsite in the main office
  • Ability to sit for long periods and use computer and office productivity tools
  • May be asked to work outside normal business hours
