About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and execute communications strategies for media, civil society organizations, international entities, academic institutions, and other stakeholders
- Develop outreach campaigns and strategic messaging for diverse international and domestic audiences
- Collaborate with interagency counterparts, organizational stakeholders, and team members to align messaging with priority objectives
- Provide leadership with concise, accurate, and timely briefings
- Manage workflow, oversee assignments, and coordinate special projects
- Analyze emerging social, political, economic, geographic, and cultural developments and advise on implications for strategic communications
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using advanced social science techniques
- Produce actionable insights and assessments to inform communications planning and strategic decision-making
- Develop and manage complex communications-related projects
- Prepare remarks, briefing materials, position papers, and public-delivery content
- Apply regional cultural and customs knowledge to foster connectivity with diaspora, academia, NGOs, and international organizations
- Build and maintain partnerships with leaders, colleagues, stakeholders, and external organizations
- Facilitate collaboration across teams and contribute to organizational objectives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Report to the Program Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in international relations, foreign policy, public diplomacy, conflict prevention, political risk assessment, governance, human rights, or related fields
- Proven ability to advise leadership on global social, political, and economic developments and their implications for strategy and communications
- Expertise in project development and management, stakeholder engagement strategies, and producing tailored materials aligned with complex policy objectives
- Master's Degree in international relations, political science, social science, public diplomacy, or a related field, OR 15+ years of equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Top Secret Security Clearance; must have an active Top Secret clearance
- Must be able to pass a background check and may require additional project/client background checks
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High-level attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Exceptional English-language communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to deliver under tight and short deadlines while managing multiple tasks in diverse work environments
- Proficiency in technology and tools related to communications strategy implementation
- Fluency in one or more regional languages highly desirable
- Well-established networks within diaspora communities, academia, and international NGO sectors preferred
- Experience mentoring and coaching professionals on communications and policy strategy preferred
- Ability to work onsite in the main office
- Ability to use computers and office productivity tools with sufficient speed
- Ability to sit for long periods while looking at a computer screen
- May be required to work flexible schedules, outside normal business hours, and travel
