About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer, optimize, and troubleshoot computer systems, including Windows and UNIX systems (Linux or Solaris)
  • Supervise and manage daily operational activities related to business system configuration and operation
  • Optimize system performance and resource utilization
  • Perform detailed capacity analysis to support system scaling and growth
  • Develop and oversee automation for system installation, upgrades, configuration, administration, and maintenance
  • Investigate and analyze customer support and sustainment requirements
  • Recommend methodologies, processes, and technological solutions
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance for operating systems, storage systems, virtual infrastructures, and other IT assets
  • Perform repairs to resolve system-related issues and environmental challenges
  • Manage systems and environments across multiple concurrent projects
  • Interface with vendors to troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate system issues
  • Support planning, assessment, and definition of system and environmental requirements for technical projects
  • Provide expert-level end-user assistance and training
  • Report to the Program Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6–8 years of related experience or Master’s Degree with 2–6 years of experience
  • Considerable experience in configuring and administering Windows and UNIX systems (Linux or Solaris)
  • DoD 8140-compliant certifications (e.g., IAT Level II credentials)
  • Top-Secret Clearance is required
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities
  • Adaptable to change and a quick learner
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and on a multi-functional team
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to work onsite in the main office
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed
  • May require lifting and moving hardware equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours
