About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer, optimize, and troubleshoot Windows and UNIX systems, including Linux or Solaris
- Supervise and manage daily operations for business systems, including mainframe, mini, and client/server systems
- Optimize system performance and resource utilization
- Perform capacity analysis to support system scaling and growth
- Develop and oversee automation for system installation, upgrades, configuration, administration, and maintenance
- Investigate system problems and recommend technical solutions for customer support and sustainment
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance and repairs for operating systems, storage, virtual infrastructures, and other IT assets
- Manage systems and environments across multiple concurrent projects
- Interface with vendors to troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate system issues
- Support planning and definition of system and environmental requirements for technical projects
- Provide expert end-user support and user training
- Report to the Program Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree with 6–8 years of related experience or Master’s Degree with 2–6 years of experience
- Considerable experience configuring and administering Windows and UNIX systems (Linux or Solaris)
- DoD 8140-compliant certifications (e.g., IAT Level II credentials)
- Top-Secret Clearance is required
- Must be able to pass a background check; additional checks may be required
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to work onsite in the main office
- Ability to lift and move hardware equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work flexible schedules, outside normal business hours, and potentially holidays
