About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical direction, engineering expertise, and support across voice and data communications domains
- Plan, design, develop, install, test, and maintain large communications networks
- Assist in designing large-scale voice and data communications networks for performance, security, and scalability
- Participate in installation and deployment of voice/data communication systems
- Test and troubleshoot communication network components
- Maintain and repair network infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted operation
- Prepare technical documentation, network configurations, and system procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to implement communication solutions
- Apply engineering knowledge and industry best practices while ensuring standards compliance
- Direct building architects and planners in designing communications spaces and media pathways that meet industry standards
- Develop, operate, and maintain voice, wireless, video, and data communications systems
- Perform complex engineering or analytical tasks across technical communications areas
- Report to the Program Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience may be considered
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in voice/data communications engineering is preferred but not required for candidates with certifications and strong technical aptitude
- One of the following certifications is required: BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer or Cisco Certified Design Expert
- Top-Secret Clearance is required
- Must be able to pass a background check, with additional checks potentially required by projects or clients
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and on a multifunctional team
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Foundational understanding of voice and data communication technologies, protocols, and standards, including VoIP, TCP/IP, and SIP
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and resolve network issues
- Familiarity with network and telecommunication tools and diagnostic utilities
- Ability to use computer and office productivity tools for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move hardware equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including holidays and outside normal business hours when required
- Ability to travel for business or professional development when required
