About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the National Attest Office by performing engagement quality reviews under PCAOB standards, primarily for SPAC engagements
- Review financial statements, audit workpapers, significant accounting and auditing conclusions, and engagement documentation
- Evaluate compliance with PCAOB standards, SEC reporting and independence requirements, applicable AICPA standards, and Firm policies and procedures
- Coordinate with engagement teams and EQR leadership to communicate review observations and resolve open items
- Support completion of seasonal filing deadlines
- Provide technical input on PCAOB standards, SEC rules and regulations, auditor independence, and Firm consultation requirements
- Document EQR conclusions clearly and consistently
- Identify recurring review themes and communicate quality improvement opportunities to NAO or EQR leadership
- Comply with professional, Firm, confidentiality, time-entry, and audit quality-control requirements
- Attend and engage in meetings and training sessions
- Maintain required CPE for firm and licensing standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with others
- 10+ years of public accounting experience with significant audit experience serving public companies, SPACs, SEC registrants, or PCAOB-inspected engagements
- Prior experience serving as an engagement quality reviewer, concurring reviewer, national office reviewer, or equivalent technical review role preferred
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, PCAOB standards, and SEC reporting requirements
- Experience with pre- and post-SPAC IPOs, registration statements, comfort letters, quarterly/annual public filings, de-SPAC transactions, and related audit and review considerations
- Familiarity with complex financial instruments and fair value considerations preferred
- Strong analytical ability and critical thinking capacity
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment
- Availability to work extended hours during peak SPAC filing periods, including weekdays and weekends as necessary
- Ability to maintain required CPE for firm and licensing standards
