About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate engagement phases, budget time and expenses, manage staff time, monitor performance against budget, and review work papers and financial statements
- Plan engagements, delegate to and supervise staff, and provide daily development and detailed review of assurance staff work
- Serve as the firm's in-charge field representative on engagements
- Own specific engagement aspects through completion
- Investigate quantitative and qualitative variances
- Implement risk management strategies and communicate areas of risk exposure
- Evaluate work papers for compliance with professional standards and firm policy
- Review SEC filings and research technical accounting issues
- Review reports and financial statements
- Discuss significant findings with the engagement partner
- Manage risk and execute quality control procedures
- Maintain relationships with client management and staff
- Provide on-the-job training to subordinates
- Manage employee and client expectations
- Participate in performance management processes
- Maintain required annual CPE and stay current on professional pronouncements
- Travel to client sites and participate in professional development opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Taxation or related field
- 2 years of experience in public accounting or related field
- CPA candidates preferred
- Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize assignments
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
- 2+ years independent audit experience in public accounting, specifically with SEC clients preferred
- Licensed CPA or eligibility and active participation in the CPA exam preferred
- Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing/tax standards
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines accurately, work independently, and exercise professional judgment
- Strong communication, research, analytical, and writing skills
- Technical proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with accounting software; ProSystem FX engagement preferred
