About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and improve Linux-based infrastructure with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Design, deploy, and maintain on-premises Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads
  • Develop and maintain system-level software, middleware, and APIs for internal platforms and services
  • Automate system workflows and infrastructure tasks using Python, Bash, and configuration management tools such as SaltStack
  • Build and maintain RPM packages and internal software repositories
  • Collaborate with Application Support (SRE), Development, and Security teams on secure, automated CI/CD and platform integration
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues involving the OS, network, or container runtime
  • Implement hardened security configurations, secure communications, and identity/access integration
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical infrastructure services
  • Document architectures, tools, and operational processes for long-term maintainability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration and infrastructure/platform engineering
  • Production experience managing Kubernetes, preferably in bare-metal or on-premises environments, such as kubeadm, RKE, or OpenShift
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP in production environments
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python and Bash
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux internals, kernel tuning, and performance diagnostics
  • Hands-on experience with SaltStack, Puppet, or Ansible for configuration management
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP/PTP, DHCP, and related infrastructure services
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Certifications such as RHCE or LFCE are a plus
  • Experience with container runtimes such as containerd and Docker and registry management
  • Knowledge of GitOps workflows or tools like ArgoCD or Flux
  • Background in security best practices and compliance, such as CIS benchmarks and STIGs
  • Prior experience in highly regulated or low-latency environments
