About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate, evaluate, and manage complex, high-exposure multi-line claims according to company standards, client instructions, and applicable state laws
  • Lead claim strategy on heavily litigated files with defense counsel
  • Perform detailed coverage analysis, including policy interpretation and application
  • Analyze and apply contractual risk transfer, including indemnity and additional insured provisions
  • Establish and manage significant reserves, including reserve strategy and exposure evaluation
  • Direct and oversee defense counsel, expert witnesses, and vendors
  • Negotiate high-value settlements aligned with legal strategy, client expectations, and authority guidelines
  • Review and approve complex legal, medical, and damage-related invoices
  • Provide strategic client communication and reporting on claim status, exposure analysis, and resolution strategy
  • Coordinate with excess and reinsurance carriers on large-loss files
  • Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities
  • Maintain comprehensive and defensible claim documentation in the claim system
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced adjusters
  • Ensure compliance with corporate claim handling standards and client service commitments
  • Deliver thorough analysis, defensible decisions, strategic file management, effective litigation outcomes, financial accuracy, cost containment, and proactive client partnership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of multi-line claim handling experience
  • Minimum 5+ years managing complex, high-exposure, and heavily litigated liability claims
  • Strong expertise in litigation management, defense counsel oversight, and claim resolution strategy
  • Advanced knowledge of WCEL, complex liability coverage analysis, contractual risk transfer, indemnity, additional insured provisions, and umbrella/excess liability exposures
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level client interaction
  • Ability to independently manage highly complex claims with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Current adjuster license in home state; multiple licenses strongly preferred
  • Strong legal background preferred
  • Prior TPA experience handling national accounts preferred
  • Experience with construction defect, construction liability, general liability, or large commercial trucking losses preferred
  • Experience handling CROP claims preferred
  • Industry designations such as CPCU, AIC, or ARM preferred
  • New York and Hawaii licenses preferred
  • Must be able to work without visa sponsorship
