Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction
  • General knowledge of academic curriculum for assigned classes
  • Ability to develop instructional goals, design and deliver instruction, and assess students' learning
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning skills
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in History and Social Sciences
  • Completed a state-approved teacher preparation program in History and Social Sciences or Career Switcher Program in History and Social Sciences, or completed a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a passing Praxis exam in History & Social Sciences 5581, or hold a valid out-of-state license with a comparable endorsement
  • Non-current CCPS teachers must submit transcripts, two references, and a copy of teaching license
  • Successful completion of FBI criminal history, State Police criminal history, CPS investigation, and tuberculosis screening/test
  • Ability to perform required physical duties with or without reasonable accommodation
