About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform site and factory testing to ensure instruments are installed and functioning correctly
- Advise field erectors on safe and efficient equipment lifting and installation methods
- Perform I/O checks and validate logic and control narratives in plant DCS systems
- Lead equipment startup, commissioning, balancing, and tuning
- Coordinate with plant personnel to ensure systems operate correctly and emission-reduction targets are achieved
- Oversee equipment installations and lead site crews for turnkey installations or customer-facility modifications
- Work with field service management, project management, and engineering to install equipment and resolve technical problems
- Review performance reports and inspect malfunctioning or damaged products to determine corrective actions
- Maintain performance records, work orders, maintenance checklists, and other documentation
- Conduct safe-equipment-operation training for team members and customers
- Prepare formal field reports with timesheets, expense reports, and customer signatures
- Support sales inspections of existing equipment and assess mechanical, electrical, structural, and operational condition
- Conduct factory acceptance tests and coordinate punch-list completion before shipment
- Verify designs meet requirements and equipment matches approved drawings
- Coordinate repairs with engineering, customer service, and other personnel
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports and correspondence
- Conduct quality inspections at fabrication sites
- Provide engineering feedback to improve equipment design
- Complete field service and project closeout documentation
- Manage shipping and receiving operations
- Package equipment for transport
- Operate a forklift for loading and unloading
- Organize and maintain the shop facility
- Assist with property management and oversight of third-party service crews
- Follow Company and OSHA safety policies and maintain a clean, safe, orderly environment
- Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Technical training in Electrical and High School diploma required
- 5+ years’ experience working as a Field Services Specialist, Technician or Site Commissioning, or a bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of process instrumentation, including pressure transmitters and flow control valves using 4-20mA signals
- Knowledge of rotating equipment and accessories, including fans, dampers, and flow meters
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, wiring schematics, P&IDs, and instrument O&M manuals
- Ability to test resistance and continuity for low-voltage and high-voltage systems up to 480V
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and train plant associates, customers, and co-workers
- Valid in-state driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- US Passport and ability to obtain a TWIC
- Knowledge of OSHA and API safety regulations
- Ability to complete site-specific customer safety training
- Experience with exhaust systems, SCR, combustion equipment, control systems, and field startup/commissioning preferred
- Knowledge of combustion, airflow, differential pressure in liquids and gases, and chemical, hydrocarbon, and acid gas process streams preferred
- PLC programming knowledge is a plus
- Ability to meet company attendance standards
- Ability to perform required physical activities, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions
