Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead external relations activities in Kansas according to Centene, health plan, government, and contractual guidelines
  • Develop and maintain relationships with legislators, county governments, associations, healthcare advocates, and other stakeholders
  • Monitor, influence, and advance healthcare policy
  • Develop and lead opportunities with government or government-facing partners to promote the health plan through government-related events
  • Receive and respond to stakeholder inquiries and assist with constituent issues
  • Assess issues and risks affecting program priorities, members, or providers
  • Create and implement mitigation strategies
  • Support strategic plan membership growth initiatives
  • Manage the health plan's contract lobbyist and coordinate with the state association on public policy objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Government Affairs, Business Administration, Communications, Political Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of government relations, legislative, or community relations related experience
  • Kansas legislative experience is ideal
  • Strong political acumen
  • Ability to independently identify and manage emerging legislative issues
  • Ability to build relationships across political lines
  • Healthcare or Medicaid experience is preferred, but not required
